When to use each format
JPG — Best for photographs. Lossy compression means smaller files with virtually no visible quality loss for natural images. Use for product photos, portraits, and anything you'll share on social media.

How It Works
The tool decodes your image and re-encodes it in the target format using your browser's built-in Canvas API. Everything happens on your device — there's no server involved and no upload delay.
You can upload JPG, PNG, or WebP and convert to any of the same three formats — including converting a format to itself if you just want to re-compress at a different quality. One thing to note: converting a transparent PNG or WebP to JPG will fill the transparent areas with white, since JPG doesn't support transparency.

For website use, yes — WebP is supported by all modern browsers and produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at equal quality. If you need to open the file in older desktop software or send it somewhere that may not support WebP, stick with JPG or PNG.

Yes. JPG has no alpha channel, so any transparent areas in a PNG or WebP source are filled with white when converting to JPG. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead.

Use Cases
Upload the PNG and select JPG as the target format. Note that any transparent background will become white — if your logo needs to sit on a coloured background, keep it as PNG instead.
Upload your image, select WebP as the target, and adjust the quality slider until you're happy with the size/quality balance shown in the preview. WebP is the recommended format for fast-loading modern websites.
WebP is a newer format, and some older image viewers and design software don't support it yet. If you're not sure your recipient's software supports WebP, convert to JPG or PNG instead for maximum compatibility.
Screenshots are usually saved as PNG, which is inefficient for anything with lots of colours or photos in it. Convert to JPG or WebP for a much smaller file — screenshots with mostly flat colours and text will still look sharp.
Troubleshooting
This happens when converting to JPG, which doesn't support transparency. If you need to keep a transparent background, choose PNG or WebP as the target format instead.
Check that your file is under 10MB and in JPG, PNG, or WebP format. HEIC files from an iPhone camera aren't supported by this tool yet — convert them to JPG first, or use the Background Remover tool which accepts HEIC.
